WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Quebec showcase event highlights eight-game CPJHL schedule of games

Eight games were played last weekend, including four on Friday in a mini showcase in Quebec.

Here are highlights from each game:


Maniwaki Mustangs 5, Le Buffalo de Ferme-Neuve 1 (Showcase game #1)

From the Centre Gino-Odjick, Phillippe Gaudron and Gabriel Briere each posted a goal and two assists for Maniwaki, while Felix Dargis went for a goal and an assist and Charles-Eric Ville and Jeremy Pontbriand scored one each. In goal, Logan Hensley stopped 16 shots. Steven Junior Flamand scored for Le Buffalo and Nicolas Robert finished with 22 saves between the pipes.

Le Becard de Senneterre 3, Smiths Falls Settlers 2 (OT) (Showcase game #2)

At the Centre Gino-Odjick, Jordan Riviere completed his hat trick just 29 seconds into overtime. Antoine Chouinard made 17 saves in net. Shane Nottaway and Dorion Deschenes scored for the Settlers and goalie Ethan Messner stopped 27 shots.

Le Becard de Senneterre 3, Maniwaki Mustangs 1 (Showcase game #3)

Jordan Riviere, Jessy Dalibert and Benoit Cousineau-Marcoux scored at the Centre Sportif Ben Leduc. Simon Trudel and Cedric Chantal each contributed two assists and Antoine Chouinard made 13 saves for Le Becard. For Maniwaki, Jeremy Brooks scored and Logan Hensley and Cedrick Robidoux combined on a 15-save outing.

Le Buffalo de Ferme-Neuve 3, Smiths Falls Settlers 2 (OT) (Showcase game #4)

Jerrycko Flamand was the OT hero, scoring with three seconds left in the extra session at the Centre Sportif Ben Leduc. Flamand also added an assist for a multi-point game. Steven Junior Flamand and Xavier Beaudoin also scored and Zak Flamand took the win in goal. For Smiths Falls, Felix Leonard and Askar Kagirov scored and Dylan Henri notched two assists. In net, Jonatan Horne suffered the loss.

Severn Stallions 8, Muskoka Anglers 4

From the Graeme Murray Arena, Austin Gilmore recorded a hat trick, Jared Weatherbee added a goal and three assists, Scott Knowles and Jeremy Fortin a goal and an assist apiece and Liam Coleman, Jacob Ljungstrom and Samuel Muir tacked on two helpers each. Joshua Jones and Caleb Boylan scored one each and in the Severn crease, Brendan Keeler finished with 24 saves. For the Anglers, Joshua Bozek tallied twice, Sammy Spencer collected a goal and an assist and Jacob Smith scored. Between the pipes, William Tisserand turned aside 37 shots.

Seaforth Generals 7, Scarborough Wexford Raiders 2

At the Scarborough Gardens, Donald Kuptana recorded two goals and two assists, Ethan Scrimgeour two goals, Luke Steen a goal and an assist and Shayne Thurber and Jared Searles one goal each. Keaton Wynne added three assists and Max Hetman finished with 40 saves in goal. For Scarborough, Matthew Balzia and Derek Greene scored and Graham Payne stopped 42 saves in net.


Maniwaki Mustangs 7, Smiths Falls Settlers 1

Phillippe Gaudron went for two goals and an assist, Jeremy Brooks a goal and two assists and Jeremy Pontbriand a goal plus a helper from the Centre Gino-Odjick. William Guidon, Antoine Bertrand and Niels Colliot scored single goals and Gabriel Briere and Yannick Brindamour chipped in two assists apiece. Cedrick Robidoux made 28 saves in goal. Marcus Decoursay netted Smiths Falls' lone goal and Ethan Messner made 38 stops in net.


Seaforth Generals 5, Langton Royals 4 (OT)

Luke Steen popped home the game-winning goal 1:45 into overtime at the Langton Arena. Ethan Scrimgeour added two goals and Anthony Kipfer and Nate Sisson also scored. Owen Haiek tacked on three assists and Dylan Ross-Kendi added a pair of helpers. In goal, Raul Barbo made 35 saves. Langton was led by a goal and an assist each from Toby Beliveau and Harley Werminsky and single goals from Tyler Bird and Filip Mica. Trevor Slaven finished with 34 saves in goal.
