WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Mustangs win three games, while defending champion Stallions earn pair of victories

Nine games were played over the weekend, with the home team winning five games.


Maniwaki Mustangs 4, Smiths Falls Settlers 3 (SO)

Maniwaki's Antoine Bertrand tallied the winner in the fourth round of the shootout at the Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre. In regulation, Thomas Tremblay and Jeremy Brooks each posted a goal and an assist and Logan Hensley made 25 saves. For the Settlers, Dylan Henri scored twice and added an assist, Malcolm Gamelin added a goal and two helpers and Ethan Messner stopped 50 shots between the pipes.

Severn Stallions 4, Muskoka Anglers 2

At Gravenhurst, Jared Weatherbee led the Severn attack with a goal and three assists, while Liam Coleman notched a goal and a pair of assists. Caleb Boylan added a goal and an assist and goaltender Brendan Keeler turned aside 35 shots. Connor Arndt and Jacob Smith scored for the Anglers and Sahil Sandhu made 41 stops in goal.

Scarborough Wexford Raiders 5, Seaforth Generals 1

Five different players scored for the Raiders - Wilfred Robinson (with an assist), Evan Speiran, Bruce Ayre, Kenzie Humby and Brandon Weeks - and Sean Quinn fashioned a 31-save outing in net at the Scarborough Arena Gardens. For Seaforth, Siinasi Tasse-Dion scored the lone goal and Max Hetman kicked out 39 shots between the pipes.


Severn Stallions 3, Seaforth Generals 2

From the Coldwater Community Centre, Jared Weatherbee tallied a goal and an assist for the Stallions, while Liam Coleman and Carson Latimer also scored to back David Barrett's 28 saves in goal. Donald Kuptana and Ethan Scrimgeour scored for the Generals, who got a 32-save performance in goal from Raul Barbo.

Fun fact of the night: Both coaches - Sylvain Cloutier (Severn) and Norm Maracle (Seaforth) - were AHL teammates for several years with the Adirondack Red Wings in the Detroit Red Wings organzaition and then briefly in the NHL with the Atlanta Thrashers.

Maniwaki Mustangs 10, Ferme-Neuve Le Buffalo 2

Paul Fuchs paced the Mustangs' offense with three goals and an assist, while Phillippe Beaudoin and Jeremy Brooks added a goal and three assists each in the game played at the Centre Sportif Ben Leduc. Nicolas Schultz had a goal and two assists, Jeremy Pontbriand two goals and an assist, Felix Dargis and Matthew Bouchard three helpers each, and Jesse Vachon a goal plus an assist. Tommy Bouchard made 33 saves in goal. For Le Buffalo, Christopher Champagne and Felix Papineau scored and Zak Flamond made 57 saves in the Ferme-Neuve crease.

Le Becard de Senneterre 14, Smiths Falls Settlers 3

At the Centre Sportif Andre Dube, Alexandre Beaulieu went for three goals and two assists and Steven Gagnon added a goal and four assists to go along with a four-goal outing from Vincent Roy. Jordan Riviere and Benoit Cousineau-Marcoux each posted two goals and an assist, while Pier-Luc Bellard and Mirko Bolduc each contributed two assists. Le Becard goalie Gianni Schiappa-Godard made 17 stops. Askar Kagirov totaled two goals and an assist for Smiths Falls, while Dylan Henri and Zach Phillion posted a pair of helpers each ands Malcolm Gamelin also scored. Ethan Messner finished with 44 saves between the pipes.


Maniwaki Mustangs 6, Ferme-Neuve Le Buffalo 3

Phillippe Gaudron recorded two goals and an assist, William Guidon, Phillippe Beaudoin and Jeremy Pontbriand all had a goal and an assist and Logan Hensley made 30 saves for the Mustangs at the Centre Sportif Ben Leduc. Christopher Champagne, Anthony Chamard and John-Evan Moar scored for Le Buffalo, while Xavier Beaudoin and Sheldon Dube-Ottawa tacked on two assists apiece. Nicolas Robert made 35 saves in goal for Ferme-Neuve.

Langton Royals 7, Muskoka Anglers 4

From the Langton Arena, the hometown Royals were led by two goals and two assists from Ismael Prudent and two goals and an assist from Levi Noltcho. Jack Dorey added a goal and an assist, Colin Spence put up three assists and Jonathon Galke chipped in two assists. Lanton goalie Trevor Slaven stopped 35 shots for the win. Muskoka was paced by Sammy Spencer's two goals, Nicholas Retty's goal and an assist and two assists each from Marten Poldmets, Tyler Bayoff and Felix McMillan. Sahil Sandhu finished with 32 saves for the Anglers.

Seaforth Generals 16, Scarborough Wexford Raiders 3

Owen Haiek exploded for two goals and five assists in front of the home crowd at the Seaforth Community Centre. Ethan Scrimgeour added three goals and three assists, Travis Sloan a goal and five assists and Ethan Gordon and Siinasi Tasse-Dion three goals and an assist apiece. Donald Kuptana, Shayne Thurber and Jared Searles all had a goal and two assists, while Patrick Richichi added three aasists. Raul Barbo and Jacob Baxter combined on 23 saves in net. Evan Speiran had a goal and an assist for Scarborough, while Ethan Thomas and Graham Payne combined on a 56-save night for the Raiders.
