Stallions sign talented 2002-born defenseman Dick from Belfast youth program

The Essa Stallions have announced the signing of defenseman Ryan Dick.

Dick, a 2002 birth year from Belfast, Northern Ireland, will add some youth to the club, and will be present in the team's training sessions to help develop into the defenseman that the club believes he can be.

"Any time you can add a young standout like Ryan to your club, it shows we're doing something right," said Essa head coach and director of hockey operations Sylvain Cloutier. "He is definitely one of the younger guys on our back end, but he is talented. He will work hard in practice and earn his ice time just like everyone else."

"Ryan comes from a solid U20 program in Belfast (Giants) where competing as a 16-year-old is not a simple task," added Stallions GM and assistant coach David Lang. "Playing the North American game will be an adjustment for him as time and space are taken away. However, we feel that when we get him into the right situations, he will be successful."

In 12 games last year for the Giants U20 team, Dick totaled three goals and five assists for eight points.
