Stallions, Mustangs each earn victories Saturday night to kick off CPJHL's 2017-18 season

The CPJHL’s 2017-18 season kicked off Saturday night with a pair of games.

First, the Essa Stallions dropped the Coldwater Ice Wolves 13-1 at the Angus/Essa Recreational Centre.

Tim Holmstrom went for three goals and an assist, while Jake Devers contributed two goals and two assists and Chris Hunt tacked on two goals and a helper.

Kristoffer Klarin and Jared Weatherbee added a goal and two assists each and William Persson and Nathaniel Montford each posted a goal and an assist.

Ryan Boose and Sergey Ivaschenko scored one apiece, Alec Martyn picked up three assists and Brett Simpson notched two assists.

In goal, Ethan James earned the win and also drew an assist on the night.

For Coldwater, Joseph Iron scored and Kyle Laveault suffered the loss in goal.

In the nightcap, the Maniwaki Mustangs doubled up the Smiths Falls Settlers 4-2 from the Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre.

Anthony Bedard compiled two goals and an assist for Maniwaki, while Alexander-James Kisthabish added a goal and an assist.

Antoine Chouinard also scored for the Mustangs - on top of getting the win in goal - and Dakota Ostrowski tacked on two assists.

Reilly Degray notched both goals for Smiths Falls and Kyle Fritz took the loss between the pipes.
