Stallions bring in talented youth, sign 2003-born local product Gouin

The Essa Stallions have announced the signing of local youngster Owen Gouin.

Gouin hails from Oro-Medonte and is a 2003 birth year.

"We were able to see Owen play for us at a prospect tournament during the offseason," said Essa head coach and director of hockey operations Sylvain Cloutier. "We wanted to be able to assess his abilities against the older guys, with him being an '03 born. He works hard, doesn't give up on plays, and adjusted well to the speed of the game. The growth this young man and his family are going to see after being on ice and working with us will be quite the jump. We can't wait to help him develop and get started."

"Owen comes to us with raw talent," added Stallions GM and assistant coach David Lang. "I believe he has the capabilities to be our best young player. Spending some time working with our coaching staff is going to help him, which in turn will help us in the long run. We hope to get him into some situations to build some confidence and succeed before we make him a full-time player. It's a marathon, not a sprint, and we have to be careful with the younger guys. We're excited to have him and help him grow."
