Settlers acquire goaltender Ogawa from Stallions for cash considerations

The Essa Stallions have traded goaltender Yamato Ogawa to the Smiths Falls Settlers for cash considerations.

Ogawa, a native of Nikko, Japan, will be heading to Smiths Falls in hopes of landing the No. 1 job.

"Yama is a quality individual and goaltender, of which we are very lucky to have had in our organization," said Essa head coach and director of hockey development Sylvain Cloutier. "He is great kid, and we wish nothing but the best for him. We know he is going to do well up there, and believe he has the capabilities to be their No. 1 goaltender."

"'Yams' is a good kid, tracks the puck well, and will do whatever he can to stop that puck," added Stallions GM and assistant coach David Lang. "We're going to miss having him around, but unfortunately, this is all part of the hockey world."

In 10 starts last season with the Stallions, Ogawa posted a 9-1 record, a .928 save percentage and a 1.92 GAA.
