Seaforth names Petrie new head coach; Runhart to retain GM role

by Matt Mackinder

The Seaforth Generals have announce the hiring of Jamie Petrie as the team's second-ever head coach.

Petrie replaces TJ Runhart, who will stay on as general manager of the Generals.

This won't be Petrie's first time in town as at one time, he coached the now-defunct Seaforth Centennials Jr. D team.

The Stratford, Ont., native is no stranger to the bench with an impressive resume as a player at the Junior B level. The former OHL draft pick has seen time on the bench with the Durham Huskies Jr. A Tier II team, as well as the Elmira Sugar Kings, Petrolia Jets and Stratford Cullitons - all of the GOJHL - Tavistock Braves and the Walkerton Hawks of the PJHL, as well as the Oxford Blues Sr. AAA club.

Petrie brings a players' accountability approach as well a strong belief in community-building partnerships to the Generals organization.

“Strong practice plans and relentless on-ice pressure are keys to what will make us more successful this season and we believe Jamie has what it will take to maximize these young players' development,” Runhart said.
