
Pair of Stallions players, Pioneers blueliner selected CPJHL award winners for December
The Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League today announced its Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Month awards for December.
FORWARD OF THE MONTH
Chris Hunt, Essa Stallions
The third-leading scorer in the CPJHL, Hunt averaged 2.40 points per game as he compiled 12 points last month on seven goals and five assists in just five games.
A native of Albany, N.Y., Hunt has recorded 35 goals (second in the CPJHL) and 60 points through 21 games this season.
DEFENSEMAN OF THE MONTH
Nathan Lyndon, Bracebridge Pioneers
In five games last month, Lyndon registered a pair of goals among six points for the Pioneers.
Overall, Lyndon is the second highest-scoring blueliner in the CPJHL and the Bracebridge, Ont., native has 11 goals and 24 points in 22 games thus far.
GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH
Kurt Walsh, Essa Stallions
The Stallions continued their torrid streak last month and Walsh played three games (all wins), allowing two goals or fewer in each contest, stopping 65 of 71 shots for a .915 save percentage and a 2.00 goals-against average.
The Barrie, Ont., product is 7-0-0 this year with a 1.59 goals-against average, a.940 save percentage and three shutouts. His GAA is third amongst all eligible CPJHL netminders, save percentage second and shutouts tied for tops.
