Mustangs duo, Stallions goaltender pegged CPJHL award winners for month of January

The Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League today announced its Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Month awards for January.



Jonathan Dumont, Maniwaki Mustangs

The leading scorer in the CPJHL, Dumont averaged better than three points per game as he compiled 23 points last month on 11 goals and 12 assists in seven games, including a four-goal, five-assist game on Jan. 6 against Almonte and a five-point performance the next night against Lake Erie.

A native of Lac Simon, PQ, the 19-year-old Dumont has recorded 30 goals and a CPJHL-best 46 assists for 76 points through 23 games this season.


Abdel-Karim Bournissa, Maniwaki Mustangs

In six games last month, Bournissa registered five goals and 12 points for the Mustangs.

Overall, the 20-year-old out of Kuujjuaraapik, QC, is the highest-scoring blueliner in the CPJHL with 13 goals and 36 points in 21 games thus far.


Ethan James, Essa Stalions

The Stallions continued their incredible winning streak last month and the 18-year-old James went 4-0 in his starts with a 2.00 GAA and a .934 save percentage.

The London, England, product is 13-1-0 this year with a 1.25 goals-against average, a .954 save percentage and three shutouts. James also has three assists.

His GAA and save percentage is first amongst all eligible CPJHL netminders, shutouts tied for tops and win total is second in the league.
