Marson signs with Stallions, adds to forward corps for defending President's Cup champs

The Essa Stallions announced today the signing of forward Shawn Marson.

Marson is a native of Kitchener, Ont.

"Shawn should add a good amount of grit to our team," said Essa coach-director of hockey operations Sylvain Cloutier. "We hope he can come in and sharpen his defensive skills to be an effective role player for us."

"Things have been going well for us as a team this offseason," added Stallions assistant coach-GM David Lang. "We're going to have a good strong core returning, with some additions regarding some new players. Sylvain has really been hitting the lines, as have I (in terms of recruiting and signing players). Unfortunately, we've had some players commit to us and things fall through for one reason or another, but that is the nature of the business. Sometimes you get the bounces, and sometimes you don't.

"But if you look at last year, and our record,  I think it's safe to say we get a lot of good bounces. We wish the players that have decided to sign elsewhere the best of luck. We truly mean that. They deserve an opportunity, and hopefully they get it. We're looking forward to seeing them in the visiting colors, and can't wait to welcome them to the Stable for a cold Saturday night with the Stallions."
