Insurance, travel costs force Lake Erie Eagles to leave CPJHL

The Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League has announced today that the Lake Erie Eagles will not be a member team for the 2018-19 season.

“We certainly enjoyed having the Eagles in the CPJHL last season,” said CPJHL president Stephane Laveault. “Unfortunately, insurance costs and travel fees are increasing and the league, along with Eagles ownership, feel this is no longer a good fit.

“I would like to thank the Eagles organization for their contributions during the 2017-18 season and wish everyone in Lake Erie the best of luck moving forward.”

Last season, the Eagles went 13-24-2-1, good for third place in the East Division.
