The Grey Highlands Hawks have announced the signing of Strathroy, Ont., native and forward Danny Pierce for the upcoming 2018-19 CPJHL season.

The Hawks staff had the opportunity to see Pierce play during the offseason at the Niagara Bauer Showcase tournament, where his strong compete level and hockey sense really stood out over the weekend-long tournament.

Last season Pierce played for Holy Cross High School and the Strathroy Jr. Rockets, where he lead his team in scoring with 32 goals and 68 points in 50 games played.  He also helped lead his team to the league finals and regional Silver Stick finals as well as getting an invite to the International Silver Stick tournament.

The year prior, Pierce was awarded the Rocket Spirit award, which is awarded to the player that exemplifies pride, passion, and loyalty to the game of hockey.

According to the Hawks, “We are excited that Danny chose to play for the Hawks this upcoming season. He has a lot of potential and upside to his game. Danny has a goal to go on and play NCAA hockey and we look forward to assisting him with his hockey development on and off the ice and facilitate the exposure needed to reach that next level.”
