Grey Highlands adds to blue line with German product Muljar

by Matt Mackinder

The Grey Highlands Hawks have announced the signing of German native Erik Muljar.

Muljar is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound defenseman who played the last two seasons  in the German Development League, which is the highest level of junior hockey in the German Ice Hockey Federation.

Described as a very smart defenseman with a good shot and strong skating thanks to his agility and balance, Muljar has very good timing in his hits and does not hesitate to use his body.  He likes to model his game after Detroit Red Wings defender Niklas Kronwall.

Muljar is expected to bring a lot to the Hawks D-core this upcoming season.

"He is going to bring some much-needed size and experience, an area were we felt we were really lacking last year," the Hawks said in a news release. "The addition of Muljar is going to help make the Hawks a much tougher team to play against and his aggressive style of play is sure to make him a fan favorite next season."
