Flamand, Michelini, Richardson take home CPJHL player of the month honors for December

The Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League today announced its Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Month awards for December.

Point totals do not reflect games played at the Western States Shootout showcase event Dec. 18-21 in Las Vegas.


Kevin Flamand, Maniwaki Mustangs

Flamand averaged nearly three points per game in totaling 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in five games. He had four multi-point games, including two four-point games and a pair of three-point performances.

A native of La Tuque, PQ, the 1998-born Flamand leads Maniwaki and is second in the CPJHL with 33 assists and also sits fifth in overall scoring with 47 points.


Matt Michelini, Seaforth Generals

In just three games last month, Michelini registered four goals and four assists for eight points with the Generals while playing solid defensively. He tallied a hat trick with an assist on Dec. 16 against the Greater Toronto Jaguars.

On the season, the 1998 birth year from Michigan has compiled seven goals and 23 points in 22 games.


Cory Richardson, Scarborough Wexford Raiders

Richardson went 2-0 last month, picking up wins on Dec. 7 against the Seaforth Generals (61 saves) and Dec. 15 against the Smiths Falls Settlers (36 saves), good for a 2.50 GAA and a .948 save percentage.

The 2001 birth year is 5-3-0 on the season with a 4.70 GAA, a .924 save percentage and one shutout. 

Richardson’s save percentage is third in the CPJHL, while his one shutout is good for a third-place tie among the league leaders.
