Essa brings in Manitoba native Gilmore, a player who will be a 'huge asset to the club'

The defending President's Cup champion Essa Stallions have signed two-way forward Austin Gilmore for the 2018-19 CPJHL season.

Gilmore, a native of Morris, Manitoba, comes to the Herd by way of the HTJHL and the Red River Mudbugs.

"Austin is a throwback player in my eyes," said Essa head coach and director of hockey operations Sylvain Cloutier. "He's a two-way guy who finishes checks, has a good skill set, and is responsible in his own end. We see him as a huge asset to the club, and expect him to be a key piece in our pursuit to repeat as President's Cup champions for the upcoming season.

"We are hoping to use him in all sorts of situations, but ultimately we have to evaluate what else we have in camp and see where he fits best, but we see a lot of ice time in his future."

"I think we've got a good one here in Gilmore," added Stallions GM and assistant coach David Lang. "With what we currently have in our club, this certainly makes us much deeper, and much harder to play against. We love kids like Austin, and can't wait to get him in the Black and Grey. Guys have to come in here in good shape, good attitude, and good mentality to be successful.

"We don't appreciate individuals. We're here to do everything as a team, win or lose. They dictate what happens by working hard, and earning the opportunities that 'Clouts' gives them. All we ask is to come to play hard, and work harder."

In 52 career games in the HTJHL, Gilmore amassed 19 goals and 28 assists for 47 points.
