CPJHL terminates Galaxy membership for rest of 2017-18 season, would entertain return for '18-19

The Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League announced today that the Cobourg Galaxy’s membership has been terminated for the rest of the 2017-18 season, effective immediately.

Through six games, the Galaxy posted a 1-5-0 record,  most games with a short bench.

“We simply could not let the Galaxy continue this season,” said league president Stephane Laveault. “We thank the organization for its contributions, and would certainly entertain conversations in the offseason about the team returning for the 2018-19 season.

“We finished our league showcase today and without the Madawaska Valley Falcons and Cobourg Galaxy, our league has become stronger and more competitive. There were no blowouts and players now have a better opportunity to grow and develop.”

The current CPJHL schedule will be adjusted to account for Cobourg’s games.
