CPJHL terminates memberships of Almonte, EOHA franchises

by Matt Mackinder

The Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League announced today that the Almonte Jr. Sharpshooters and Eastern Ontario Hockey Academy will not return as member clubs for the 2018-19 season.

Both teams did not meet all of their financial obligations to the league for the 2017-18 season, which is cause for immediate termination from the league moving forward.

“On and off the ice this past season, the majority of our teams were very competitive and fulfilled their financial responsibilities,” said CPJHL president Stephane Laveault. “Unfortunately, the business side of both the Almonte and EOHA franchises did not meet the minimum standards we as a league set forth for ownership groups.”

All Almonte and EOHA players from this past season are now free agents.
