WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Weather an issue, but Stallions, Mustangs each gain two wins, Settlers also win
Weather played a role in two games this past weekend, but five games went on as planned.
Here are the highlights from the weekend's action:
FRIDAY, JAN. 17
Severn Stallions 9, Scarborough Wexford Raiders 8
At the Scarborough Gardens, Jacob Ljungstrom's power-play goal with 46 seconds left stood as the game winner. Dylan Beattie, Austin Gilmore and Jake Grinnell all had two goals and an assist, Joshua Jones a goal and an assist and Caleb Boylan also scored. Ayden Walter made 50 saves in goal. For the Raiders, Wilfred Robinson went for two goals and three assists, Evan Speiran added three goals and an assist and Davis Park scored twice. Josh Bishop added a single goal and Kevin Shirmaly posted four assists. Riley Cassada registsred two assists and Cam Hanson finished with 55 saves between the pipes.
Maniwaki Mustangs 8, Smiths Falls Settlers 3
From the Centre Gino-Odjick, Jeremy Pontbriand led the offense with three goals and an assist, while Yannick Brindamour had a goal and two assists and Matis Roy and Zachary Beaudoin added a goal and an assist each. Paul Fuchs and Niels Colliot scored one each and Logan Hensley made 26 saves in net. Dylan Henri scored all three goals for the Settlers and Jonatan Horne stopped 58 shots in goal.
SATURDAY, JAN. 18
Smiths Falls Settlers 6, Le Buffalo de Ferme Neuve 3
At the Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre, Chris Pryer had a goal and three assists, while Blake McArthur, Simon Swallow and Marcus Decoursay all posted a goal and an assist. Andraz Homan and Keegan Jorgensen scored one each and Jonatan Horne turned aside 29 shots in goal. For Le Buffalo, Steven Junior Flamand notched a pair of goals, Maxime St. Pierre scored the other, and goaltender Zak Flamand stopped 50 shots.
Maniwaki Mustangs 11, Le Becard de Senneterre 7
From the Centre Gino-Odjick, Maniwaki was led by Yannick Brindamour's three goals and two assists, Samuel Constantineau's two goals and three assists and Matis Roy's three goals and one assist. Anthony Bedard added four assists, while Phillippe Beaudoin and Jeremy Pontbriand went for a goal and two assists each. Aleks Stoilov chipped in a goal and an assist and Gabriel Briere added two assists. In net, Cedrick Robidoux tallied 35 saves. Pier-Luc Bellard scored three goals for Le Becard, Vincent Roy had a goal and two assists, Steven Gagnon tacked on two goals, Jordan Riviere recorded three assists and Alec Boutin also scored. Between the pipes, Gianni Schiappa-Godard and Antoine Chouinard combined on a 38-save outing.

SUNDAY, JAN. 19
Severn Stallions 4, Langton Royals 1
From the Langton Arena, Austin Gilmore and Jake Grinnell each posted a goal and an assist, while Liam Coleman had two assists and Jacob Ljungstrom and Carson Latimer scored one each. In goal, Brendan Keeler turned aside 38 shots for the win. For the Royals, Filip Mica scored and Trevor Slaven made 43 saves between the pipes.
** The Scarborough Wexford Raiders-Seaforth Generals game at the Seaforth Community Centre was awarded as a forfeit win to Seaforth due to travel issues with the Raiders. **
