Weekend Roundup: Scoring once again on display as CPJHL's third weekend provides more excitement

The third week of the 2019-20 CPJHL season yielded more competitive games as the season eases into full swing.

FRIDAY, OCT. 4

Le Becard de Senneterre 10, Smiths Falls Settlers 2

From the Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre, Pier-Luc Bellard scored two goals with three assists and Jordan Riviere added a pair of goals and two assists. Isaiah Cooper scored twice, Leon Wiskeychan went for a goal and two assists and Alexis Duguay chipped in four assists in the win. Antoine Chouinard finished with 21 saves for Le Becard.

Langton Royals 3, Muskoka Anglers 2

Filip Mica scored the game-winning goal at 19:56 of the third period to lift Langton to victory in Gravenhurst. Gaberik Dorion and Justyn Clark also scored for the Royals and Payton McCallum posted two assists to back Hayden Linklater's 35 saves in net. Sahil Sandhu stopped 48 for the Anglers and Chance Turinsky and Robin Ruklic scored.

Severn Stallions 4, Scarborough Wexford Raiders 1

Austin Gilmore posted a goal and an assist as the two-time defending President's Cup champion Stallions picked up their first win of the season at Scarborough Arena Gardens. Dylan Beattie, Liam Coleman and Mac Young also scored, Carson Latimer contributed two assists and David Barrett made 38 saves between the pipes. Tyler Bayoff scored for the Raiders and Cameron Hanson stopped 37 shots.

Maniwaki Mustangs 13, Ferme-Neuve Le Buffalo 9

At Centre Gino-Odjick, Paul Fuchs tallied four goals and an assist to lead the Maniwaki attack. Jeremy Pontbriand added two goals and three helpers, Yannick Brindamour a goal and four assists, Mattew Bouchard two goals and a pair of assists, Phillippe Beaudoin three goals and an assist and Jeremy Brooks a goal and two assists. Phillippe Gaudron tacked on three helpers as well. Logan Hensley made 51 saves in goal. For Le Buffalo, Steven Flamand went for three goals and three assists, Sheldon Dube-Ottawa three goals and two assists and Xavier Beaudoin a goal and three helpers. Zak Stamond and Nicolas Robert combined to make 51 saves in the Buffalo cage.

SATURDAY, OCT. 5

Scarborough Wexford Raiders 7, Severn Stallions 6

From the Coldwater Community Center, Evan Speiran registered four goals - including the winner with less than two minutes to play in the third period - plus an assist for the Raiders. Wilfred Robinson added two goals and an assist while Cameron Emilio tallied a goal and an assist to back Sean Quinn's 29 saves. For the Stallions, Gage Polhill posted three assists while Jared Weatherbee and Austin Gilmore added a goal and an assist apiece. Ethan James finished with a 28-save outing in goal.

Smiths Falls Settlers 12, Ferme-Neuve Le Buffalo 5

Askar Kagirov scored six times and added an assist in the Settlers' win from the Centre Sportif Ben Leduc. Malcolm Gamelin (pictured) added four goals and Zach Phillion, Andraz Homan and Connor Hewitt chipped in three assists each. Simon Swallow went for a goal and two assists, Dorion Deschenes added a goal plus a helper and Ethan Messner made 41 saves in goal. John-Evan Moar scored three goals and added an assist for Ferme-Neuve. Steven Flamand and Craig Ratt each had a goal and an assist. Nicolas Robert finished with a 44-save performance in taking the loss.

Le Becard de Senneterre 8, Maniwaki Mustangs 1

At Centre Gino-Odjick, Isaiah Cooper and Maxime Lemaire recorded a goal and two assists each for Senneterre and Vincent Roy and Alexis Duguay added a goal and an assist apiece. Antoine Chouinard kicked out 35 shots between the pipes. Gabriel Briere scored for the Mustangs and Tommy Bouchard made 33 saves in net.

SUNDAY, OCT. 6

Severn Stallions 5, Langton Royals 3

From the Langton Arena, Austin Gilmore rang up two goals and two assists and Dylan Beattie added two goals and an assist for Severn. Jacob Ljungstrom posted a goal and an assist and Brendan Keeler turned aside 23 shots. For the Royals, Toby Beliveau, Justyn Clark and Filip Mica scored, Colin Spence added two helpers and Trevor Slaven made 17 saves in goal.

Seaforth Generals 8, Muskoka Anglers 0

Raul Barbo stopped all 19 shots he faced in front of the home crowd at the Seaforth Community Centre. Owen Haiek scored a hat trick and added an assist while Ethan Gordon had a goal and two assists, Siinasi Tasse-Dion two goals and an assist and Luke Steen a pair of helpers. William Tisserand made 40 saves in goal for the Anglers.
