WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Royals, Becard each win twice, while Anglers, Generals also get in win column

Six games were played last weekend as CPJHL teams start jockeying for position in the standings with the stretch drive fast approaching.

Here are the highlights from games played Jan. 24-26.

FRIDAY, JAN. 24

Muskoka Anglers 8, Severn Stallions 2

From the Graeme Murray Arena, Jacob Smith had three goals and two assists, Sammy Spencer a goal and four assists, and Marten Poldmets a goal and three helpers in the win. Jacob Starr-Costello added a goal and two assists, while Robin Ruklic posted a goal and an assist. Kayden Shepherd chipped in two assists and Joshua Bozek also scored. In goal, Turham Ramsey made 54 saves. For the Stallions, Caleb Boylan and Jake Grinnell scored and David Barrett finished with 42 stops between the pipes.

Langton Royals 6, Scarborough Wexford Raiders 4

At the Scarborough Gardens, Felix Mailhot went for a goal and two assists and Toby Beliveau scored a pair of goals to lead the Royals. Filip Mica, Harley Werminsky and Jack Dorey also scored and Trevor Slaven turned aside 58 shots in net. Evan Speiran and Dalton McGinnis registered a goal and an assist apiece for the Raiders, while Kevin Shirmaly added three assists and Jarra Shifara and Wilfred Robinson added single goals. Lanny Korbee made 74 saves in goal.

SATURDAY, JAN. 25

Le Becard de Senneterre 6, Smiths Falls Settlers 0

From the Centre Sportif Andre Dube, Antoine Chouinard earned the shutout making 10 saves. Sean Fink recorded a goal and two assists, Jordan Riviere two goals and Pier-Luc Bellard and Steven Gagnon added a goal and an assist each. Felix Lagrange also scored in the win. Smiths Falls goalie Jacob Baxter made 52 saves.

Seaforth Generals 6, Severn Stallions 5 (shootout)

At the Coldwater Community Centre, Owen Haiek and Benjamin Dunn scored in the shootout and Seaforth goalie Raul Barbo stopped both Severn shooters to gain the victory. Haiek also scored twice in regulation, while Dunn went for two goals and a helper. Luke Steen tacked on four assists, Travis Sloan two assists, and Donald Kuptana (whose goal with 3:35 left in the third period tied the game) and Anthony Kipfer each tallied one goal each. Barbo compiled 48 saves. For Severn, Jared Weatherbee had two goals and an assist, Christopher Champagne a goal and two assists and Austin Gilmore added a goal and a helper. Mac Young scored the other goal and Brendan Keeler notched 48 stops in goal.

SUNDAY, JAN. 26

Le Becard de Senneterre 16, Smiths Falls Settlers 3

At the Centre Sportif Andre Dube, Jerome Marcoux scored seven goals, while Benoit Cousineau-Marcoux had a goal and six assists, Maxime Lemaire four goals, and Sean Fink a goal and three assists for Senneterre. Jessy Dalibert and Felix Lagrange had a goal and an assist apiece and Simon Trudel also scored. Pier-Luc Bellard and Jordan Riviere had three assists each and Steven Gagnon and Vincent Roy chipped in a pair of helpers each. In goal, Gianni Schiappa-Godard finished with 24 saves. Dylan Henri, Connor Hewitt and Marcus Decoursay scored for the Settlers and Jonatan Horne and Jacob Baxter combined on a 50-save effort in goal.

Langton Royals 6, Seaforth Generals 2

From the Seaforth Community Centre, six different players scored for the Royals, while Toby Beliveau, Juliusz Kowalski, Felix Mailhot and Ismael Prudent all posted assists for multi-point games. Jack Dorey and Jonathan Galke scored one each and Malcom Gamelin had two assists. In net, Trevor Slaven made 24 saves. Owen Haiek tallied both goals for the Generals and Max Hetman kicked out 35 saves between the pipes.

** The Langton-Scarborough game was a forfeit win for Langton, while the Ferme Neuve-Maniwaki game was postponed.**
