Trio of talented players - Littlechild, Varey, Searles - inks with Seaforth for 2019-20 season
The Seaforth Generals have announced three player signings for the 2019-20 CPJHL season.
Seaforth has signed forwards Keeshon Littlechild and Eric Varey and defenseman Jared Searles.
Littlechild hails from Maskwacis, Alberta, and the 6-foot-4, 230-pounder suited up for the Junior Braves of the NorJHL last season, scoring a pair of goals and adding an assist in 17 games.
“I’m excited to get to Seaforth and get things going," said Littlechild. "Playing and learning from Coach (Norm) Maracle will be huge for my development and I believe the Generals program gives me the best chance to elevate my game."
Varey is a Little Current, Ont., native and goes 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds. Last season, Varey played for Manitoulin High School where he scored four goals and added six assists in 13 games while racking up 17 penalty minutes.
“Adding a player like Eric is a good fit for us," Maracle said. "His dedication and desire to develop as a player is key. He has a lot of leadership qualities that will come in handy throughout the season.”
Searles returns for his third tour of duty in Seaforth. The Stratford, Ont., native was recently released from an OJHL camp and looks forward to another exciting season with the Generals.
The 2018-19 season was a breakout one for Searles as he scored seven goals and 28 points in 38 games for the Generals.
"This is a big season for Jared," Seaforth GM TJ Runhart said. "He’ll be counted on as one of our top defensemen. He is a quiet kid that goes about his work and does it well. He’s a coaching dream."
