Seaforth sweeps two-time defending champion Stallions, will now play for CPJHL title

The Seaforth Generals won both games this past weekend from the two-time defending CPJHL champion Severn Stallions, elminating the Stallions from the playoffs.

Saturday at the Coldwater Community Centre, the Generals defeated the Stallions 5-4.

Donald Kuptana, Ethan Scrimgeour (pictured) and Ethan Gordon all had a goal and an assist, while Benjamin Dunn and Anthony Kipfer added single goals for Seaforth.

Between the pipes, Raul Barbo stopped 57 shots for the win.

Kevin Shirmaly and Scott Knowles each had a goal and a helper for Severn. Jacob Smith and Caleb Boylan added single goals and David Barrett made 51 saves in goal.

In the clincher Sunday at the Seaforth Community Centre, Owen Haiek went for three goals and two assists as Seaforth took a 9-3 decision to advance to the CPJHL championship series.

Ryan Marriage tallied a goal and two assists, Cedric Beck and Kuptana notched a goal and an assist, and Kipfer chipped in two helpers.

Dunn, Scrimgeour and Martin Tomaschitz all had one goal apiece and Barbo turned aside 26 shots in goal.

For the Stallions, Gage Polhill, Sammy Spencer and Marten Poldmets scored and Barrett and Brendan Keeler combined on a 24-save outing in the Severn crease.

The Generals will await the winner of this weekend's Le Becard de Senneterre-Maniwaki Mustangs series in the league finals.
