Royals sign first goaltender in program history in Mississauga native Slaven

The Langton Royals announced today that the club has signed 18-year-old goalie Trevor Slaven for the 2019-20 CPJHL season.

A Mississauga, Ont., native, Slaven spent the last season with the Toronto Marlboros 18U AAA team and before that with the Mississauga Reps AAA team where he won an All-Ontario championship and a GTHL championship. He also played with the Mississauga Rebels AAA team, winning a GTHL championship, and one season with the Mississauga Senators AAA program.

“I had the pleasure of coaching Trevor for a few years while he was growing up," said Royals coach-GM Jason Do Paco. "I know what he’s about, I know his work ethic and I know what he brings to the table every day. Trevor is a tremendous goalie when he is on his game. He will get to work with our assistant/goalie coach, which will help him develop and improve his skills on a daily basis. I am really excited about adding Trevor to our lineup as he will be an exciting talent to watch.”

Slaven stands 6-foot and weighs 180 pounds. He looks to earn a scholarship in the NCAA or USports. The Royals' exposure package will provide him the maximum exposure he will need to get noticed.

“I found out about the team from Jason, as he coached me in the past," said Slaven. "I thought it was a good decision to come here as I know Jason and know I will get the right development. I am looking to have a great year and make Langton proud by winning some games. I would like to thank the Royals for the opportunity and my parents for their neverending support.”
