Langton, Maniwaki swing trade as Royals add former QMJHL draft pick Prudent from Mustangs

by Matt Mackinder

The Langton Royals and Maniwaki Mustangs completed a trade on Monday, Oct. 7.

Langton acquired defensemen Ismail Prudent from the Mustangs in exchange for goaltender Elie Giguere.

"We felt that this was a good move for our club to help our back end grow and become stronger," said Langton coach-GM Jason Do Paco. "I'm a firm believer that your offense stems from your back end, or should.

"Ismail brings experience to the back end and he’ll also help our power play. Elie will head up to Maniwaki. I didn't feel I would be able to give him the playing time that he wanted and I don't believe in holding kids back. I discussed everything with Eric (Gauthier) up in Maniwaki and together we decided that the trade was in the best interest for both Ismail and Elie. It was an easy, smooth deal. We are really excited to see Ismail as he comes in this week. Some of our guys already know him and they say he can really play."

Prudent was drafted by the Quebec Remparts in the 2015 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Draft before playing in various leagues such as the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League and the CCHL2.
