CPJHL adds Niagara-on-the-Lake Nationals franchise for upcoming 2018-19 season
The Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League announced today that it has approved the addition of the Niagara-on-the-Lake Nationals franchise for the 2018-19 season.
Beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake is well known for the town’s wineries, scenery, nature and history and will now be known for a hockey program that will play out of the Meridian Credit Arena.
The Nationals, a first-year franchise with a well-experienced, connected and dedicated staff is thrilled to be bringing an electrifying program to a prosperous town. Niagara-on-the-Lake is well situated, close to both Buffalo and Toronto, close to several NCAA schools and OHL clubs.
“We are thrilled and excited to add the Nationals to our league next season,” said CPJHL president Stephane Laveault. “Niagara-on-the-Lake is a wonderful town that will quickly embrace its hockey team. I believe the Nationals will be a great addition to all of our returning teams.”
Having 3-4 practices per week, development is the key focus as former NHL players and current OHL scouts will be running development skill sessions on a consistent basis. Niagara-on-the-Lake offers some different and new aspects of the game to its players as they will have the ability to discover and understand hockey analytics to help improve their game with an advanced analytics program that is accessible to every player and a great tool to help further their game, but a nice addition to pass on to scouts.
It's the newest CPJHL franchise but the Nationals offer great experiences to reach goals and enjoy the luxurious town that sees over one million tourists a year.
